Nao Oikawa, born in Hiroshima, Japan is a Japanese actress, TV Personality and was also a former AV idol who was very popular in the early 2000s. Her family moved to Tokyo when she was a little girl. At age 18, when she graduated from high school and began design school, she met a scout who proposed she become an AV idol. “That time, my hair was bleached and curly. My agency told me to get my hair back to straight black. One day in the office, one staff picked Oikawa as family name from a book, another staff picked Nao from another book. This is where my stage name came from.” Like AV idols Nana Natsume and Sora Aoi, Oikawa has been able to use her fame in the AV industry to enter mainstream media work. Oikawa’s hobbies are cooking, horseback riding and walking. According to her blog, she moves around Tokyo mainly by the Yamanote Line (loop train) and by Louis Garneau bicycle. She travels to Kyoto every year to visit Kurumazaki shrine, where the goddess of public entertainment is enshrined.
When Oikawa was an AV idol, she often accessed AV maker’s BBS to interact with fans, and performed “sign and handshake” events frequently. After her retirement from AV, she started writing a blog (since September 2005), Twitter (since June 2010), and appeared on various talk shows that were streamed over the internet. Using these direct communication channels, Oikawa frankly talks about her work, personal life, friends, family, love, and other such things. Unlike porn stars of the 20th century, there is no strange behavior or special incident in her daily life. Currently, she lives with two cats (Scottish fold) and hopes to get married and become a mother in the future. Her dream is to own a koryori-ya (small Japanese restaurant bar) (Wikipedia).
